Manufacturing and a healthy environment aren’t mutually exclusive. We believe that responsible management of our environmental resources is vital to both a healthy environment and sustainable value creation.

To us, sustainability shouldn’t be a buzzword.

The sustainability of a business hinges on the responsible stewardship of the resources it requires to operate. Across our companies, sustainability means constantly innovating: To make products using fewer resources. To keep people safe and protect the environment. To minimize waste. To reduce energy intensity. To manage supply chains responsibly. And to create better pollution prevention technology for us and others.

Less waste

From 2012 to 2018, we've decreased the amount of production-related waste from our facilities by 403 million pounds, that's 41% – and we aren't done yet. The latest TRI report (2018) reflects how Emattex companies have responsibly managed our production-related waste across our numerous industries. We tailor waste management programs to each company, facility and community, each designed to protect human health, safety and the environment, and meet all regulatory requirements.

Reuse & recycle

In 2018, Emattex reporting facilities recycled, reused for energy or treated 92% (580 million pounds) of all waste produced while making the things that make life better. Since 2012, Environmental Protection Agency publicly available data has ranked Emattex as either number one or number two in pollution reduction initiatives.

Release decrease

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency requires manufacturing companies to report quantities of designated chemicals released annually to air, water and land. This report is the Toxics Release Inventory (TRI). Across Emattex companies, we've made improvements that have decreased our total releases by 17% between 2012 and 2018.
